Many people believe “there are no accidents in life.” You probably have experienced situations in which the apparent coincidence of an event was so amazing that it felt like divine intervention: Running into an old friend in the grocery store whom you had just been thinking about; sitting next to someone on an airplane who just happens to be in a business you are interested in learning about; seeing your old heartthrob and rekindling the romance; deciding to wear a special suit to work one day when the president of the company visits unexpectedly and notices your professional look.
In these situations where there are positive results we are quick to believe it was not an accident. We are beings inherently filled with and created out of love and want to believe in God and God’s love so much that we take a leap of faith, believing there must be a connection to events which appear “meant to be”.
Often we only view specific events were “meant to be” when they create a positive experience. Yet, there are also unfortunate events that from a different perspective would also be considered as no accidents. To only consider there are no accidents in life when the events appear favorable can get rather confusing. It is often difficult to determine if the event was fortunate or unfortunate. And yet, if we believe that it is “no accident” only when the events were fortunate, wouldn’t that suggest outside forces are at work in our life? And often, what may appear as an unfortunate event turns out late to have fortunate consequences.
Some believe that God is controlling the entire process. Yet, each of us is born with free will and the power to create our experiences. If God wanted us to behave or act in a certain way, we would not have these unique abilities, as well as force us like puppets to do everything God required. Yet, we can work in tandem with God. The powerful energy of our thoughts, beliefs and actions propels energy into the Universe to manifest into people, places and events that mirror our thoughts and beliefs. These “accidents” are in fact not accidents because we create these events, both good and unfortunate.
Therefore, although we were taught differently when we were young, nothing happens TO us; no one or other force is making experiences happen TO us. Rather we create all of our experiences. WE “happen” everything to us.
To believe that there are outside forces causing all of these events to happen to us goes against the nature of our ability to create and free will making choices. The nuance is that when we give away our power to outside forces believing they create our experiences, we manifest a world in which we feel hopelessness and feel powerless to change our world.
Our thoughts and beliefs create our experiences. Remember:
I am the master of my fate
I am the captain of my soul – Invictus
Knowing the fundamentals of the law of attraction is important to achieve your goals, but understanding the nuances is mandatory.
We “happen” everything to us….Gary is so right. There is one Mind and I am that Mind. That Mind is eternal and it is life. I am that Mind and I am eternal life, the master of my fate and the captain of my soul!!!
